The property draws on the simple forms of Cycladic houses and the quiet enclosure of island monasteries. Thick walls, deep arches and sculptural columns frame the changing light, while Norfolk pines and palms cast soft shadows across the walls. Inside, handmade ceramics and furniture made for the hotel bring warmth to rooms in shades of ivory, ochre and sunbaked earth. After a slow breakfast, the day might lead to a swim in the pool, a nearby beach or a treatment at the spa, before returning to the comfort of a suite for an afternoon rest or a favourite book in the shade of a private terrace.
