Laguna Coast

Here, the island reveals a different kind of beauty. Seasonal waters draw migrating birds, coastal trees take root in sandy ground, and the rocks of Stelida hold traces of life long before the first Cycladic villages. Chora is close, but there is much to notice before you leave the grounds. Low white buildings gather around a shallow lake inspired by the neighboring wetland. Curving paths connect the accommodation, while clay screens shelter private courtyards. Stone and oak give the spaces warmth, with pools or outdoor jacuzzis adding somewhere of your own to spend the afternoon. Nearby, the long sandy beaches of western Naxos invite days of swimming and lingering by the sea, while inland roads lead to quaint mountain villages, where shaded squares and family-run tavernas reward an unhurried stop for lunch. Take an e-bike out along the coast, explore the old quarry landscape with a guide, or join a cooking class using ingredients grown on Naxos. Later, the island’s produce finds its way to the table at the hotel’s restaurant, with the Portara visible across the water. An evening in Chora is an easy outing, with a different lane to follow and another small shop to discover.
