Created as part of the Cyclades’ largest regeneration project, Laguna Coast rests beside the protected wetlands of western Naxos. Led by the Laguna Coast Foundation, the wider initiative spans 480 acres, taking in a lagoon visited by flamingos, a cedar forest and an unspoiled stretch of coast, with the private islet of Manto just offshore. Nearby, southwest of Naxos Town, the rocky slopes of Stelida hold traces of human life dating back as far as 200,000 years. Low white buildings and winding paths sit gently within this setting, where the changing seasons and the island’s earliest stories invite a closer look.
At the hotel’s restaurant, the flavors of Naxos guide the menu, drawing on an island known for its potatoes, local cheeses and seasonal produce, with tables looking towards the Aegean and the distant Portara. An outdoor gym overlooks the quarry hills, while a sauna, massages and botanical treatments offer time to unwind. Guided walks, bicycle rides and cooking classes bring guests closer to the land, with sailing trips opening up the coast. Nearby, the long sandy beaches of western Naxos invite days by the sea, while inland roads lead to quaint mountain villages, marble lanes and shaded squares. Chora is a short drive away for a harbor-side dinner or a walk to the Portara as the light softens.
